  • Entry into the Course

    It is preferred that the students have obtained a minimum of a School Certificate or equivalent.

    Students will be required to complete and pass a Working With Vulnerable People Check (including a national police check) in the state or territory that they are working in prior to commencing work in this field. Students may also need to provide proof of vaccination against the Flu, Covid-19 and Hepatitis B (see Work Placement Requirements section for more details).

  • Student Selection Process

    Our student selection process is designed to ensure that you are enrolled in the qualification that best meets your needs. The selection criteria take into account various factors when deciding upon which students will be offered places in the program including:

    • The students’ needs and desired outcomes
    • The ability and commitment of the students to complete the course
    • Eligibility requirements listed in the applicable National Training Package
    • Students existing ability in the ACSF core skills, (learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy)

    Students not meeting these requirements will be directed to more suitable qualifications or skill development programs.

  • Recommended Course Structure

    To attain the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support a total of 18 units of competency must be successfully completed comprising of fifteen (15) core units and three (3) elective units.

  • Work Placement Requirements

    Students must undertake a minimum of 120 logged working hours within an Approved Service which will allow you to complete a range of applicable work tasks.

    If students are not currently working for a suitable facility, students are encouraged to locate their own work placement locations. Your trainer will be able to assist if you have any difficulties.

    Students will be provided a Practicum Booklet that will detail the tasks to be completed and log the work placement hours.

    The Trainer/Assessor will visit each student in the workplace to assess the skills required in this qualification.

    Police clearance and vaccination requirements

    To work in an aged care environment you will be required to have police clearance and, in some cases, up-to-date vaccinations.

    Vaccinations will be based on the work placement’s policies and their compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements. As a minimum you should be up-to-date with your flu vaccinations, other immunisations that may be required are for Covid-19 and Hepatitis B.

    If we have sourced work placement for you, we will advise what the vaccination requirements are. Students sourcing their own work placement should enquire about vaccination requirements with the facility they are planning to work for.

    The requirements around vaccinations and evidence might change while you’re studying with us. Changes will be in line with industry requirements and/or Australian Immunisation Guidelines.

What is Recognised Prior Learning?
Collaboration Learning recognises that some students have had previous experience and learning whether that be working in the industry or completion of a previous course of study. 

We are happy to discuss Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) with students. Each student requesting RPL will be interviewed and they should provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application and may be assessed on the job. On-the-job assessments can be conducted to assess current skills and knowledge.
